Gradients:

The gradient is often measured in $m=\frac{rise}{run}$. However, in this unit, a formula is used:

$$m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}$$

This formula comes from a right angled triangle:

Using this right-angled triangle, the gradient of this function can be found.

This is a formula that will even be used in calculus.
