There are two types of parabola functions that you can draw:

• The $x$ vertex form,
• and the intercept form

These are the equations respectively:

$y=a(x-p{)}^2+q$

$y=a(x-\alpha )(x-\beta )$

where $(p,q)$ is the vertex coordinate of the parabola.

$a$ is the scale factor of the parabola, transforming it a narrow/wide function.

The $\alpha$, and $\beta$ are the intercepts along the $x$-axis.

You can translate the parabola by modifying the $p$, and the $q$ value.

However, when translating, you must invert the signs (try it yourself online!)
